Every year in June in Tel Aviv take a place International Pride Parade.
My position hasn’t changed, so I copy-paste my post after Pride 2013:
LGBT-communities* from all over the world come to Israel and celebrate this “holiday”. For my friends from Russia and Ukraine this event inadmissible and LGBT-community is equated with illegal organizations. Unfortunately, a lot of people in CIS are thinking, that Pride Parade (in russian “Gay parade”) promotes homosexuality and nonmarital relationships. Questions about creating same-sex families, adoption by same-sex couples and integration of LGBT-community in public life – questions that are not being asked (taboo issues).
I’m glad that in Israel the issue of integration is not a problem. Israel is among the five countries-LGBT friends (this is ironic, Israel is able to create a good environment for gays and straights, religious and secular, but is not able to resolve the Arab-Israeli conflict). Ok…Ok…
What I think about Pride Parade and LGBT? I was born in USSR, country “without sex”. I was raised by non-religious people for whom the piercing and tattoo – signs of adverse effects. But I think, that if we living in democratic country, we must to understand, that all people have a same rights and responsibilities. Gay or straight – it’s not important for me. More important- is that man is honest or not.
At the end, I want to quote Harvey B. Milk* – “If a bullet should enter my brain, let that bullet destroy every closet door” and Torah – “Love your neighbor as yourself”.
*LGBT is an initialism that collectively refers to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community.
*Harvey Bernard Milk was an American politician who became the first openly gay person to be elected to public office in California when he won a seat on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.
