You can ask- “Who is it Lyapis Trubetskoy?!” and I’ll tell you.
Lyapis Trubetskoy was formed in Minsk (Belorussia) in 1990 year as a reggae-pop band with funny songs about love, pigeons and gays. But after 2006 they changed main course in music, and started playing ska-rock about freedom, slavery, power and fortitude. They changed not only stile of music, they changed idea of their band and way of life. Before 2006 Sergey Mikhalok (lead vocalist and songwriter) was funny fat man with long hair and a knitted scarf, who loved drugs and alcohol, but after 2006 he became heavy-looking strong man with tattoos.
In 2011 the band was included in Belorussian “Black list” as a band with anti-government views and statements against the president of Belorussia- Alexander Lukashenko. But for people in Belorussia and other countries Sergey Mikhalok and “Lyapis Trubetskoy” are the voices of justice and freedom. At the end of 2013 Lyapis Trubetskoy performed in Kiev (at the time of Ukrainian Euromaidan) with supporting and their song “Warriors of Light” became an unofficial anthem of the revolution.
